The Edo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Kassim Afegbua, has disclosed that the state government is generating N10 billion monthly as Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
Afegbua made this known yesterday in Benin City during a media parley with journalists.
“Every month we hover around N9.5 billion to N10 billion since we came on board. And that is no mean feat; it’s the result of our commitment to ensuring that everything that needs to be done is carried out,” he said.
He noted that it was as a result of the increase in the state’s IGR and federal allocation to the state that Monday Okpebholo is doing so much in terms of infrastructural development.
“If you have state governments that are not living up to expectations, it is the responsibility of the media to ask them questions—why are they not living up to expectations?”
He disclosed that the e-governance platform of the state has come on board, as the governor has now retooled the entire process, reinvigorated it, and introduced a brand-new platform known as e-gov, using iCloud technology.
He added that the former e-gov platform put in place by the previous administration was completely shut down because it would not allow access to information online.
