The Edo State Police Command has disclosed that four of its officers were killed and eight others sustained injuries in the line of duty in 2025.
The command’s spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, said the casualties were recorded during encounters with criminal elements.
She said, “Within the last year, the command recorded eight injuries and four deaths of police officers.”
She said the unfortunate incidents informed the command’s decision to strengthen and sustain stop-and-search operations as a proactive measure to protect both officers and members of the public.
She said, “The Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, has appealed to the good people of Edo State to cooperate by slowing down at checkpoints, remaining civil and patient and submitting to lawful inquiries.”
