The John Odigie-Oyegun Public Service Academy, a training arm of the Edo State Government, has trained 540 civil servants on change management to enable them drive the transformation process of the state government.

The Director General (DG) of the academy, Imuwahen Ajoonu, who disclosed this to journalists, said, “We trained the 540 public servants on chance management because for them to truly drive the transformation process, they must possess a strong understanding of change management principles.”

Ajoonu noted that the state government had embarked on several reforms such as e-governance to improve transparency and service delivery, hence the need to train the grade level 8 to 16 officers on change management.

He explained that the modules for the training were carefully curated to reflect the nuanced nature of the public service, equipping public servants with the necessary tools to drive the change.

One of the participants, Desmond Enabulele, said the training had changed his  approach to work, adding that the programme was a significant step towards building a more  responsive, resilient and effective public service.
