The Edo State University Uzairue has matriculated 757 students with a charge to shun social vices such as hooliganism, smoking and illicit drugs.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor, gave the charge during the 7th matriculation ceremony of the university.
He urged the students to make the best use of the available facilities to become well grounded and employable after graduation rather than indulging in social vices.
The VC added that out of all the candidates offered admission by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to study at the university, only 757 students were cleared as qualified to study in their chosen fields.
He said the university had won the 3rd Best University award in Nigeria in the 2018 Open Education Resources ranking by the National Universities Commission (NUC) as well the 4th Best University in Nigeria by Times Higher Education ranking 2021.
Aluyor urged parents to be the schools’ partners in progress by monitoring the activities and performances of their children in terms of class attendance and academics through the CANVAS learning management system of the institution.
