Edo Ward congress: Channel your grievances to appeal panel, PDP tells members

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo Sate has charged party members who are dissatisfied with the outcome of ad-hoc delegate congress to channel their grievances to the appeal panel of the party.

The party on Sunday held its ad hoc delegates election across 192 wards in the state to elect 593 delegates expected to vote and elect the party candidate during the party’s primary for the September 21 governorship election.

Recall that the nine aspirants of the party including the State deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, had faulted the exercise; declaring it illegal.

Addressing journalists, the state chairman of the party, Dr. Tony Azeibemi, cautioned the aggrieved members against battering the image of the party.

“The National Working Committee has set up appeal panel headed by Sen. Seriaki Dickson. So, whatever grievances or issue you have, I urge you to approach panel,” he said.

He also charged them to be more circumspect in granting press interview because the image of the party was being battered when they said negative thing about the party.

He assured that whatever grievance anybody had, they would bring them to the table and have a conversation, adding that the governor was ready to have a conversation with anyone on way forward for the party.

Azegbemi disclosed that the Governor Peter Mbah-led electoral committee sent by the national leadership of the party had cancelled the ad-hoc delegate congress in Etsako Central local government following the abduction of nine election officials.

Azegbeme, however, described the delegates congress in the state as the best ever conducted by the party in Nigeria and lauded the state governor, for pushing free, fair and credible exercise.
