Speaking at the graduation ceremony of Doveland International School in Abuja, Aisha said she intends to commence an enlightenment campaign in the north to encourage parents to educate the girl child.
Expressing sadness over her parents refusal to get her educated, she said the first opportunity she had to acquire basic knowledge was when she got married.
She called on women and ladies not to reject education no matter the age or time they got the opportunity to go to school.
“I came from an area where education was not allowed. I started my ABCD in my husband’s house, even till today I am still a student in the National Open University of Nigeria. My advice to parents is that they should please allow their children, especially the girls, to go to school.”
Director, FCT agency for Science and Technology, Mrs. Rosemary Umana, urged the school to start exposing the children to things related to science and technology to encourage their love for the subject.
Speaking to Daily Trust at the end of the event, proprietress of the school, Mrs. Tina Chukwu, appreciated dignitaries who attended the event promising that the school will not relent in imparting positive knowledge on the students and teachers.
