Which begs the question: What type of government is this that needs to be educated on the importance of education? No doubt the issue of the deterioration of domestic security situation is a factor, but isn’t that already a source of great concern to all citizens of this country?
Everywhere, evidence of grave threats stare us in the face. The failure of government to live up to people’s legitimate expectations is leading to despondency, tension and frustration, all of which were capable of being manipulated.
Over the last few years, there have been violent riots of every conceivable description, and one of the things they had in common is the apparent unwillingness of government to deal with them squarely, in a timely, efficient and balanced manner.
Government must respect people’s basic rights and such freedom as freedom of expression, freedom of religion, freedom of association and equal protection before the law. It must accept and respect the concept of social, economic and political pluralism. When its term comes to an end, constitutional change in governance is effected by way of comparative, free, fear and periodic elections. Educate yourself on that.
