Education unions and key stakeholders in Zamfara State have commended Governor Dauda Lawal for what they described as his commitment to reviving the state’s declining education sector.

The commendation came during a courtesy visit by the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), the Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON) and the Education Secretaries Forum to the state government.

The education stakeholders applauded Governor Lawal’s leadership and sustained support for the education sector, noting that recent interventions were beginning to yield positive results.

Receiving the unions on behalf of the governor, the Executive Chairman of the Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board (ZSUBEB), Prof. Nasir Garba Anka, at the board’s conference hall in Gusau, conveyed the governor’s appreciation for their dedication to education and nation building.

Prof. Anka reassured the unions of the state government’s resolve to provide the necessary support and resources required for the effective delivery of quality education across the state.

He said the declaration of a state of emergency on education by Governor Lawal underscores the administration’s determination to restore the sector and reposition it as the foundation of sustainable development in Zamfara.

Earlier, the Director of Academic Services at ZSUBEB, Alhaji Garba Abdullahi, highlighted achievements recorded under the current administration, particularly in policy reforms, infrastructure development, teacher capacity building and improved learning outcomes.

He urged education stakeholders to use the new year as an opportunity for reflection, strategic review and the development of innovative ideas to accelerate educational development in the state.

In separate goodwill messages, the chairmen of NUT, AOPSHON and the Education Secretaries Forum — Comrade Sanusi Abdullahi Sarkin Daji Anka, Abdullahi Iliyasu and Aminu Jibril — expressed appreciation to Governor Lawal for prioritising education.

They pledged their continued cooperation and commitment to partnering with the state government to ensure the successful implementation of its education reform agenda.

The visit, they said, reflected a shared resolve between the government and education stakeholders to build a resilient, inclusive and forward-looking education system for the state.
