Operatives of the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 120 suspected internet fraudsters at various locations in the state.
The EFCC confirmed this in a post shared on its verified X handle @officialEFCC on Monday.
It said the suspects, comprising 95 males and 25 females, were apprehended on Monday.
“The suspects were apprehended following credible intelligence and thorough surveillance regarding their alleged involvement in internet-related fraud.
“Items recovered during the coordinated operation include 26 exotic cars and expensive jewellery, smartphones, laptops and several incriminating documents,” the commission stated.
It said that the suspects were currently undergoing further investigation and would be arraigned in court upon conclusion.
Meanwhile, the Police Command in Lagos State has detained a police inspector seen in a viral video assaulting an Uber driver.
A video, which was shared by a X user, Oyindamola, with the handle @dammiedammie35, captured the officer repeatedly striking the driver with closed fists.
Reacting to the video, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the detention of the officer in a post he shared on his verified X handle @benHundeyin on Monday.
“The police officer has been summoned by the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) @LagosPoliceNG.
“He will be handed over to the provost department for appropriate disciplinary measures, ” the image maker said. (NAN)
