EFCC takes Shema into custody

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday took into custody former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema after a federal high court sitting in Katsina ordered that he be remanded.

The court, led by Justice Babagana Ashigar had ruled that Shema should be held in EFCC facility till Friday, April 27th when the court would resume sitting on his bail application.

Personnel of the EFCC and other security operatives whisked Shema away in a Nissan bus with registration number BWR 629 AT to the Kano office of the commission.

At yesterday’s sitting, Shema, who was arraigned for alleged conspiracy and money laundering of about N5.776,552,396 of Subsidy Re-investment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P), had pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
