Prof. Arogundade disclosed this while addressing new fellows of the institution who participated at the 32nd convocation ceremony organised by the college in Lagos.
According to the college president, the tasks before the new fellows are how they can intervene effectively anytime there is a strike by doctors.
“I am tempted to remind you that you have just passed a ‘fantasy phase of residency’ into the ‘real world of specialists’ where you will be called upon to manage strike situations rather than cause them to happen. The events of the recent past, when patients endured untold hardships in the nation ravaged by the scourge of Ebola epidemic while the strike lasted, can only be imagined.
“We in the college are seriously worried and have designed appropriate measures to eliminate negative effects of strike on the quality of our training,” Prof Arogundade said.
