The new innovation is described as a departure from the norm as it involves the selection of different equipment for different wounds depending on the severity of the wounds.
Launching the new initiative during a SERVICOM customers’/stakeholders’ interactive forum organised by the hospital management, the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Abdulwaheed Olatinwo, described the intervention as the best one could get.
He said, “We have realized that we need to change the pattern of wound dressing in Nigeria,  hopefully the next stage is to now extend this to other health facilities both at the local, state and national levels.
“The beauty of this wound dressing is that, when you look at it in terms of the initial cost, it might look expensive but cumulatively it is something that everybody would imbibe because it reduces your waiting period in the hospital, the frequency of visiting the hospital would reduce, the frequency of dressing a wound would reduce, even medical staff involved in dressing wound would invariably reduce. Psychologically, there is an improvement, economically, there is an improvement even without looking at the tangible cost.”
