The Egbira people nationwide and in diaspora, comprising of Egbira-Etuno/Igarra, Egbira Opete and Egbira Miyakan/Koto from Edo, Kogi, Nasarawa states and the FCT, have resolved to partner government at all levels in tackling insecurity and maintenance of peace in communities.

This resolution was contained in a 9-point communiqué issued yesterday by the Ohiku Egbira Descendants Union (ODU) after its meeting held in Lokoja.

The communiqué, which was jointly signed by the ODU National President, Musa Ibrahim Ahmadu (PhD) and the National Secretary, Ibrahim Yusuf Ohida (PhD), said they have also resolved to foster and strengthen the unity of the Egbira Nation through enhanced social and cultural activities.

It also resolved to “create a formidable machinery for conflict resolution within the Egbira Nation through the encouragement and development of a virile articulate and self-sustaining internal crisis resolution mechanism.”

The group resolved to make their collective voice formidable and relevant in local and national issues for the ultimate development and transformation of Egbira Nation as well as transform the Ohiku Egbira Descendants Union into a viable organisation that is relevant and responsive to the need of our people.

It also resolved to maintain Egbira as their common name with a common spelling ‘E-g-b-i-r-a’ regardless of dialectical differences as earlier resolved with traditional rulers and stakeholders in their previous conventions.
