Egor and Orhiomwon Local Government Football Clubs have recorded victories in the ongoing Benin Unity Cup Football Tournament.

In one of the matches, Egor Local Government Authority Football Club defeated Uhunmwode Local Government Football Club 5–1.

Although they later suffered a crushing defeat, it was Uhunmwode who drew the first blood through Hope Oleije inside the opening minute, capitalising on a defensive error straight from kick-off to open the scoring.

However, Egor drew level through Ojelum Ernest in the 8th minute while Osemwengie Patrick extended the lead to 2-1 in the 17th minute.

Courage Ehigie added the third for Egor FC just before the first half break.

Ernest completed his brace in the 67th minute before Nwaigwe Chuka sealed the game with the fifth goal.

In the other match, Orhiomwon LG FC and Oredo 2 FC shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

Meanwhile, Oredo I FC were awarded a walkover victory against Ovia South-West LG FC after their opponents failed to report for the match.

The match officials, in line with tournament regulations, handed Oredo I the maximum three points and three goals following the expiration of the mandatory 30-minute grace period. The competition organised for the seven Local Government Authorities in Edo South South Senatorial District is sponsored by Senator Neda Imasuen.

It is a grassroots football tournament aimed at developing talents and tackling youth restiveness in the state.

Organisers have said the winner of the Cup would take home N1m cash prize.
