Super Eagles vice-captain, William Troost-Ekong, has said the presence of interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen has brought in a wave of fresh air in the team.

The Watford defender who said this at yesterday’s press conference said the players all want to prove themselves in the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

It will be recalled that his team mate, Moses Simon, had revealed that his performances in the opening Group D game with Egypt was one of his best games in the last two years.

The statements from the duo have now put into question the man-management of the former coach, Gernot Rohr during his time as the Super Eagles coach.

“With the new coach there is fresh air. Everyone wants to prove themselves.  We are approaching the game as the first two. We have enjoyed Garoua. This is an opportunity to test ourselves and play a good game. Everyone will have a point to prove. I don’t think we will put our foot off the pedal,” he said.  Ekong also eulogised his partnership with Kenneth Omeruo at the heart of the defence of the Super Eagles as he described the Leganes of Spain defence ace as a “fantastic player.”
