The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has urged leaders at all levels to intensify efforts to tackle insecurity in the country.
In his Eid-el-Fitr message delivered on Friday in Sokoto, the Sultan, who is also President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), urged citizens to embrace positive change and uphold values that promote peace and progress.
He also called on Nigerians to remain steadfast in prayers and commitment to national development, stressing the importance of unity among leaders to address the country’s challenges.
He commended Islamic scholars for their dedication during Ramadan, particularly through Tafsir sessions and public enlightenment, and encouraged them to sustain efforts in guiding the faithful while praying for the nation.

The monarch expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, noting that the country’s best days lie ahead if citizens remain God-fearing, patriotic and committed to nation-building.
The Sultan also acknowledged efforts by the Ahmed Aliyu administration and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in implementing policies aimed at improving the welfare of citizens.
He, however, noted that more needs to be done, especially in tackling insecurity and economic hardship.
“Our people are facing challenges, particularly insecurity. Leaders must intensify efforts to address these issues,” he said.
Abubakar emphasised the role of prayers in societal development, urging Muslims to continue seeking divine intervention for leaders and the nation.
He also encouraged citizens to support government initiatives, expressing hope that Sokoto State would soon witness positive developments that would bring joy to its people.
In his remarks, Governor Ahmed Aliyu, commended the Sultan’s leadership and guidance, assuring continued collaboration with the Sultanate Council for the benefit of the state.
He congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of Ramadan and appreciated scholars for their prayers and teachings.
Aliyu also called for sustained public support for government at all levels and urged citizens to cooperate with security agencies in the fight against banditry, terrorism and other crimes.
