Eid-el-Kabir: Emir of Potiskum Urges Residents to Embrace Peace

The Emir of Potiskum, Alhaji Umaru Bubaram Ibn Wuriwa Bauya, has called on residents of the emirate and Nigerians at large to embrace peace.

He also spoke on the importance of farming activities as the rainy season approaches.

The monarch made the call on Wednesday shortly after the Eid-el-Kabir prayers held at the Potiskum Eid Ground, where thousands of Muslims gathered to observe the two raka’at prayers and witness the symbolic slaughtering of a ram by the Chief Imam, marking the commencement of the sacrificial rites.

Speaking during the Eid celebration, the royal father urged the people to sustain peaceful coexistence, unity and public order, stressing that peace remains the foundation for meaningful development in the emirate, Yobe State and the country at large.

He also prayed for lasting peace, abundant rainfall and prosperity for the people during and after the Eid festivities.

The Emir commended the Yobe State Government for what he described as its commitment to the welfare and development of the people.

He further appealed to residents to continue accepting polio vaccines to prevent possible outbreaks of diseases in the state.

Earlier, the Chief Imam of Potiskum, Sheikh Goni Isah Garba Auta, who led the congregational prayers, urged Muslims to uphold obedience, piety, charity and total submission to the will of Allah as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (AS).

The Eid prayer attracted traditional rulers, title holders, religious scholars, government officials and thousands of faithful from across the emirate.
