The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar have called on Muslims and all Nigerians to use the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir to pray for unity of the country.
Secondus in a Sallah message by his Media Aide, Mr Ike Abonyi, on Monday argued that Nigeria was in a precarious situation and needed special prayers for peace and stability.
"Our country is now more than ever before in dire need of divine intervention, especially as citizens cope with dictatorship and the sudden hardship.
"There is no dispute to the fact that Nigerians did not bargain for what they are getting in the hands of APC but the beauty of democracy is that it provides the people an opportunity to make changes and this they must ask Allah to guide them accordingly," Secodus said.
Similarly, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in a Sallah message by his Media Office on Monday, said Muslims should use the occasion to advance the cause of love amongst the people.
Atiku said intolerance, extremism and bigotry, if left unchecked, could threaten peace and unity in any country, adding that peace and unity are the greatest assets that should not be taken for granted by Nigerians.
He advised Muslims to remain vigilant against the influence of violent extremism which he said has been used by misguided elements to portray Islam in bad light.
