The head of the charity foundation Alhaji Hashimu Usman, said that 500,000 naira with  cloths and food items worth 300,000 naira were shared among 250 orphans for them to celebrate Sallah without feeling the absence of their parents.
He said  he said assisting the orphans is a tradition of the messenger of Allah (peace be upon him )hence  urged  Muslims to always assist the orphans ,adding that  the items and money were contributed by the people of Agege and other parts of Lagos.
Meanwhile, the group has also donated foods and other gift items to prison inmates in Kirikiri and Ikoyi prisons in Lagos.
At Kirikiri Maximum Prison, Apapa, the Islamic group met with the prison’s Operating Officer in charge of welfare, Mr Abd’Rasheed Hamzat, who led the entourage of JIBWISS members to hand over their gifts items to the inmates.
The distributed items include bags of local staples such as garri,  rice, onions, noodles, pasta,  palm oil, beans and biscuits. There were also other items such as soaps, creams and slippers, among other numerous ones.
Chairman of the group, Lawal Atana Mosque, Agege who is also a chieftain of the group, Alhaji, Umar Atana said the idea behind the gesture is based on the need for the Muslim Ummah to fulfill the directive of Allah in extending hands of fellowship to the needy and the poor in the society.
He said he is aware that not all those who are incarcerated that actually committed the charges leveled against them but that every inmate deserves the best of treatment from all well meaning people.
