The Abuja National Mosque Management Board has distributed Eid-ul-Adha 900 bags of 50kg rice to the needy and other vulnerable Muslims in FCT and environs as part of celebration of this year’s Eid-ul-Adha, slated for Friday.

“It (Items) was sent to us for the sallah celebration two weeks ago, but we did it today so that people who get it will be able to use it for the purpose of the Eid and as you know that the Eid is a celebration of eating and drinking which we call Eid-al-Adha that will be celebrating on Friday on the 6th of this month,”.
When asked on the criteria for the selection of the beneficiaries, he said that the committee look at the previous distributions, then also think about people around the mosque that are known to come for assistance.
“There were also the individuals who are working within the mosque like the cleaners, the security officers, the health care providers, the environmental agencies we look at all these people surrounding the mosque even the shops those who are working there and they’re less privileged.
“We pin the their names down and they are in numbers, so if they are in group, we assign a certain number of the bags of the rice for them and if they are among the less privilege, we found out and we have people from local governments these local governments and the imams of each local governments in Abuja to represent their people and as you have seen before we gave each local government 10 bags of 50kg each so that they can share it among those who are in need in their areas.
“It could be the imam, it could be the muadhin (mosque workers) or the jama’a (congregation) of the mosque as they wish, as they are at liberty to know who is in need within themselves.
Then the 10 cows would be slaughtered and distributed on Thursday according to the numbers that we have on the list, a day before the sallah so that it could be used for the sallah that it was intended for,” he said.
Two of the beneficiaries, Ustaz Yunus Salahudeen and Cletus Muhammed Abubakar Nwahirim, expressed appreciation to the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu for the gesture.
The development was coming on the heels of similar donations, comprising food items and condiments, by President Tinubu and his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu during the Ramadan Fasting in March this year.
