Senior Advisor H. Pierson Mrs Ekaette Umoh, presented a book titled ‘Those Teenage Years’ to mark her 51st birthday.
The event took place on Thursday at Exhibition Hall in Abuja. The book, which took the author one year to write, is a Young Adult novel dedicated to her nephew, Edidiong, who never got a chance to be a teenager.
“He was barely a year old when we lost him,” she said. “Teenagers should understand that everything they are going through, others have gone through same, even if not in the digital age. The same principles of hard work, diligence and transparency remains basics.”
Mrs Umoh advised parents bringing up teenagers to work at understanding their children and not force down what they want or think on them. “Remember they are human beings and are going through a phase, some hormonal changes, which could alter some behaviours.”
Mrs Umoh described her husband as her main supporter who “listens to my ideas and says, go for it.
