They said the PDP has offered them nothing in terms of quality representation, saying because of this Eket Senatorial District is fast losing its pride of place and recognition.
Community leaders and youth groups representatives that spoke with our correspondent in Uyo, expressed disappointment with the way the zone has been neglected and impoverished due to absence of quality representation, even at the state level, adding that they have decided to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates for Eket Senatorial District,  Bassey Etienam, and all other APC candidates.
Those who spoke with our correspondent expressed hope that Etienam’s candidature would offer quality representation that had eluded the district in the past and changed the political equation of the zone.
Former Attorney and Commissioner of Justice in the state, Victor Iyanam, who hails from the zone in a recent advertorial in the state endorsed not only the running mate of Umana Okon Umana, Engineer Benedict Ukpong, but all the APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
He said the time has come for the people of Eket Senatorial district to embrace the APC adding that the PDP administration has failed the zone.
Chairman of Oron Union, Mr. Asuquo Iniukim,who reviewed the PDP administration said in an interview with newsmen in Uyo, that the people of Eket Senatorial district have not fared well in the seven years of PDP administration in the state.
“Certainly I cannot say that we have fared well in this state under the PDP,’’ he said stressing that “the people are supporting the APC because they have seen in it  and its candidates for the Eket Senatorial district a fresh hope.”
 Those who have decamped as a result of disagreement with PDP primaries in the state include Rep Robinson Uwak and Chief Alice Ekpeyong representing Mbo state constituency at the state House of Assembly.
