Ekiti: 2 in police net over stealing

Operatives of the Ekiti State Police Command have arrested two suspects, Babale Timothy and Sanmi Ajayi, for stealing.

The command’s spokesman, Sunday Abutu, explained that on June 19, the Anti-Kidnapping Squad (AKS), based on a credible rip-off, arrested Babale Timothy in the Atikankan area of Ado-Ekiti while trying to sell a Bajaj motorcycle he stole from where it was parked.

Abutu said that the suspect, an ex-convict, confessed to the commission of the crime and stated that he was a member of a syndicate that specialised in stealing motorcycles around Ado-Ekiti.

He further said that also arrested Sanmi Ajayi for breaking into the premises and houses of three persons on Ilawe Road around Irewolede Estate, Ado-Ekiti, and stealing items worth millions of naira.

He said that the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime and that PlayStation 5 Console, laptop, extension box, PS-5 Controller and disc, Oraimo clipper, phone charger, JBL Boom Box 2 and raw food items were recovered from him.

Abutu added that effort was underway to arrest the fleeing members of his gang.
