A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, has said at the weekend that incumbent governor Kayode Fayemi can vouch for his competence and capacity to deliver as the next governor of the state.
He, however, said the governor cannot stand up for any aspirant rooting to succeed him in the June 2022 governorship election because of his belief in internal democracy and his desire to provide a level playing field for all aspirants.
Bamidele, who represents Ekiti Central in the National Assembly, had recently obtained his expression of interest and nomination forms and is expected to make a declaration of his intention in Ekiti on Thursday.
Speaking with newsmen in Lagos, Bamidele said his relationship with the governor is very cordial and that he has already discussed his intention with him.
The senator who was Fayemi’s campaign director-general during the 2018 election, said the governor is committed to the unity of the party and would not take sides with any aspirant.
