The African Democratic Congress, ADC, candidate in the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State, Amb Dare Bejide, and the party have resolved not to challenge the victory of the incumbent governor, Biodun Oyebanji, at the election petition tribunal in the state.

Candidates have 21 days to file election petition at the Ekiti State Governorship petition tribunal which has since expired.

The ADC candidate got a total votes of 12,872 to place third at the governorship  election, which Oyebanji won with 319,224 votes  at the election.

Publicity Secretary of ADC in Ekiti,  Gboyega Aribisogan, while speaking on the matter said litigation would not serve the overall interest of the party, its supporters, or the people of Ekiti State.

He said the party may have reservations about certain aspects of the electoral process, and has chosen “the path of constructive engagement over protracted litigation”.

Aribisogan, disclosed that the State Executive Council had directed all party organs to immediately shift attention to reconciliation, grassroots mobilisation and strengthening of the party’s structures across the 177 wards in the state.
