An Ado-Ekiti chief magistrate court has ordered the remand of an 18-year-old man, Alo Oluwapelumi, at the correctional centre in Ado-Ekiti over alleged conspiracy and murder.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Bamikole Olasunkanmi, told the court yesterday that the defendant committed the offence on July 24, 2021 in Iyin-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant and others at large conspired among themselves and murdered one Jafaru Mohammed.
The prosecutor said there was a fight between the defendant and the deceased, and the defendant hit him with a stone on the head which resulted in his death.
According to Inspector Olasunkanmi, the offences contravened sections 516 and 319(1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
He urged the court to remand the defendant pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The chief magistrate, Mr Abdulhamid Lawal, ordered the remand of the defendant at the correctional centre, pending the issuance of legal advice from the DPP and adjourned the case to September 2, 2021, for mention.
