Mass of voters trooped to various voting centres in Ado Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti state this morning as accreditation commenced peacefully as early as 8 am.
There were long queues of voters at polling booths visited for accreditation. It was also observed that there was orderliness at the centres with heavy security mounted by mobile policemen, and Nigerian Security Civil Defence Corps.
A presiding officer at unit 008 Ward 9, a corps member, Miss Ojo Oluwasola Rachael said materials arrived the centre at 7.15am adding that the exercise has been peaceful.
Voters also defied heavy security presence, to perform their civic duties as some people were seen trekking to where they will perform their civic right.
Besides security men were seen moving around possibly to forstall any danger while voters moved around unmolested. As 9.15 am, situation in and outside Ado Ekiti still remained normal. the part said armed soldiers arrested
The Director-General of the Fayemi Campaign Organization, Hon. Bimbo Daramola, and the state Commissioner for Finance. Mr. Dapo Kolawole, that were arrested early this morning have been released on the order of the Inspector General of Police on the eve of the poll.
Both Daramola and Kolawole were arrested in their country homes in Ire and Iloro respectively, and that their whereabouts remain unknown as at the time of this report.
