Ekiti State governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed confidence in the ability of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to get it right and retain power in the state.
He spoke with newsmen Tuesday in Abuja, after appearing before the APC Screening Committee, chaired by Hon Tunji Olawuyi, ahead of the October 27 primary election of the party in the state.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed July 20, 2026, for the off-season governorship election in Ekiti State. Political parties have already commenced preparations ahead of the polls.
Governor Oyebanji said, “I must commend the APC for putting this structure in place. It will save the party from a lot of problems. I have absolute confidence that the party will get it right.

“This is only the screening stage. Next comes the appeal committee, the congress committee, then the election proper. Whoever emerges must be supported, because it is not just about the aspirants, it is about returning our party to power and serving the people.”
The governor described the process as fair and transparent, noting that it would bring a credible result.
Our correspondent reports that a crowd of supporters, party leaders, National Assembly members and political associates accompanied Governor Oyebanji to the venue of the screening exercise.
Daily Trust reports that the screening exercise would end today when the four aspirants contesting the party’s ticket would have all been screened.
