This was made known in a statement made by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Wale Ojo-Lanre stated that Governor Segun Oni, while playing host to some stakeholders in the education sector on Tuesday, said his government, was poised to making public schools in the state models. He added that 1,461 SSS1 students were to benefit from the programme.

The governor said the laptops were Internet ready and each of the 22 boarding schools had been provided with VSAT wireless broadband links that would enable the students have 24 hours access to Internet, adding that solar energy would be provided to power the laptops.

Governor Oni said, “In the next few days, we are going to be flagging off our Digital Education Programme. As I speak with you, we have distributed 1,500 laptop computers to the 22 boarding schools in the state and the laptops will be distributed free to SS1 students when the next academic session commences.”

Furthermore, the Governor claimed “Without sounding immodest, I can say with pride that this is the first time in Africa that students of public schools will have unhindered access to computer.
