The National Council of Muslim Youth Organizations (NACOMYO), Ekiti State Chapter, has awarded Ekiti State governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, the Governor of the Year Award in recognition of his developmental strides over the past one and a half years in office.
NACOMYO commended Governor Oyebanji as an embodiment of the virtues of a true believer in governance.
The award ceremony was a highlight of NACOMYO’s 2024 Hijrah Lecture and the second edition of the Hon. Ibrahim Kunle Olanrewaju Empowerment Programme held at Fajuyi Pavilion, Ado Ekiti.
Alongside Governor Oyebanji, other honourees included former Osun State governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, former National Assembly member Senator Babafemi Ojudu, and Barrister Tajudeen Oluyole Ahmed.

Presenting the award to Governor Oyebanji, Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere Bello, president general of the League of Imams and Alfas, Southwest, Edo, and Delta states, lauded the governor for prioritizing the welfare of citizens, inclusivity and infrastructure development.
Other speakers, including Alhaji Mudasiru Oladele Yusuf, NACOMYO Coordinator in Ekiti State, praised Governor Oyebanji for his transparency, accountability and inclusive governance, which have contributed to the state’s growing profile.
Governor Oyebanji expressed his gratitude for the award, noting its significance coming from a body of eminent Islamic scholars and leaders.
He stated that the recognition would motivate him to further drive growth and development through the administration’s six development pillars, which aim to position Ekiti State as the premier destination for living, working, investing, and relaxing.
Senator Ojudu, recipient of Distinguished Service to Islam award, thanked NACOMYO for the honour bestowed on him.
