Ekiti PDP dismisses ‘state congress’

Ekiti State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the purported State Congress reportedly held at NTS, in  Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State capital as illegal, unwarranted and an exercise in futility.

In a release signed  by the state secretary, Mr. Kole Olododo, said  the purported congress lacks the approval and authorization of the National Executive Committee of the party and therefore cannot stand.

“We hereby urge all officers of the party at the Local Government and Ward levels, the entire members of the party, and indeed the general public to disregard and ignore the Fayose-led suspension congress in Ekiti State, as it has no constitutional backing”.

The PDP said no individual, regardless of past status or position in the party, has the power to dissolve or replace duly constituted Ward, Local Government, or State Executives before the expiration of their tenure.

It added :”It should also be noted that the Ward, Local Government and State Congresses in Ekiti State were duly conducted before the suspension and factionalisation within the National Executives of the party.
