Eight teams are gearing up for the Eko City Rumble basketball tourney slated to commence June 5th to 6th, 2026, at the Northern Foreshore Estate Basketball Court in Chevron, Lagos.

The tourney organised by PGRaters marks its first major basketball competition on Lagos Island.
Speaking on the competition, Frank Osayi, the founder, said the tournament is part of a broader mission to transform basketball visibility, storytelling and player development across Africa.

“We want to give players a platform to compete, we want them to be seen, and we want them to be able to tell their stories through the media,” he said.

According to him, the Eko City Rumble is aimed at inspiring a stronger basketball culture while creating meaningful experiences for players and fans alike.

“The tournament is bigger than basketball. It’s more about inspiring the next generation and raising the standard of basketball culture and events in Nigeria as a whole,” he said.

He emphasized the importance of recognition and visibility for athletes participating in the competition.

“The key thing is that we want every player who steps on that court to feel like they matter,” he said.
Osayi also stressed the need to build a stronger basketball ecosystem around African talent and communities.
