The company’s Assistant General Manager Public Affairs Mr. Godwin Idemudia stated that the company was deeply worried over the daily attacks on both its staff and wanton destruction of facilities over the alleged not too impressive power supply situation. Idemudia said over time, members of the public had continued to unnecessary vent their anger on the company’s staff and facilities, not minding the efforts of EKEDC in strengthening the network with a view to enhancing efficient and effective power supply delivery to all its valued customers, since the company took over the company last November.
He emphasized that though the management acknowledges the inconveniences and strains of the current power situation on electricity customers, the solution to the problem is not in the wanton destruction of the company’s property and manpower, but requires the collaborative efforts of the company and its entire esteemed customers.
Mr. Idemudia stated that aside from the load limitation from the national grid, chiefly among the challenges being faced by the company is the vandalism of its facilities (both cables and transformers), revealing that the company had invested a lot in efforts to stem the tide of energy loss and boost power supply to its customers.
The AGM Public Affairs also said the company had stepped up its customer enlightenment campaign programmes in order to sensitize the customers.
