Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, has assured internally displaced persons in Adamawa State that their sufferings would become history just like the civil war.
Ekweremadu who represented the Senate President, Bukola Saraki during a visit to the Daware and Malkohi IDP camps in Yola yesterday, urged the displaced persons to remain hopeful and not allow their condition weigh them down.
He expressed sympathy with the women and children at the camp, saying the insurgency would soon be overcome.
Ekweremadu said he went through a similar experience as a child during the civil war but  eventually overcame it to rise to his present status.
“We were displaced for three years as our markets, schools and villages were destroyed during the civil war. I felt the pains during the war. We will not be like this forever. That is why I am here. Like me, you will also triumph in life. Some of you will become successful businessmen and successful politicians in life,” he said.
He added that his colleagues at the Senate were concerned about the condition of the people in the affected states and would ensure speedy rehabilitation of the victims’  by the federal government.
