After guiding El-Kanemi back to the Premier league, Emetoele decided to quit the club obviously due to the security challenges being faced by Borno State.

Babagana said all pleas by El-Kanemi management for the coach to stay back and prosecute the season proved abortive as he said Emetoele decided to heed his family’s advice.

According to him, when the coach was in Maiduguri, he was provided with maximum security an even if he had stayed, nothing would have happened to him.

“Yes, Emetoele has quit El-Kanemi. We wanted him to stay but he told us that his kins-men had advised him to leave Borno because of the ongoing insurgency. It is true we are having security challenges but that wouldn’t have affected him.

“When he was here with us, we provided maximum security for him. Nothing happened to him and we believe that even if he had accepted to say, nothing would have happened to him. Unfortunately, no amount of persuasion could make him change his mind. We are going to miss him because he was an integral part of this team”.

The former El-Kanemi Warriors player said since a vacuum can not be allowed in the team, the management has since appointed coach Baraje Zachary, another seasoned coach to handle the team.

Babagana expressed confidence that going by the pedigree of the coach, he would competently step into Emetoele’s big shoes.

The former junior international said the coach has the Super Four competition which starts today in Abuja to prove his mettle.

“We have confidence in the ability of Coach Baraje Zachary to handle the team. He is an experienced coach who knows his onions. He is a good replacement for Emetoele and the Super Cup in Abuja is a chance for him to show us what he can do”.
