If you want people to have a high opinion of you the key is not to tell them how brilliant you are. For the past one year, many initiatives have been purportedly launched by your administration and each new one has claimed that it is better than the previous initiative. In almost every programme so far, it’s yet to impact positively in the life of the populace for various and sundry reasons.
Mallam Nasir el-Rufai’s certainly inherited a difficult situation with the great decline and the plummeting of economic revenues to the state. But the question becomes, what did Governor El-Rufai do to try to jumpstart growth? He has reduced government spending, especially for political offices and some social programs, in order to spring up infrastructures and resources for the state. He went a step further to screen unproductive and cumbersome state’s civil servants strength in order to safe money to move the state economy speedily.
Kaduna State has yet to recover any economy woes the state lost in the previous administration. Most states including security subvert Borno state are now back on track and even adding more quicker infrastructural development, but not Kaduna. The state’s economic recovery continues to lag. Mall. El-Rufai likes to champion his intellect credentials, but Kaduna State is still position as one of the pause states in the country for developmental projects. We don’t need more ideas. We need implementation.
Now is the time for clear-sighted, proven leadership. Poverty is up, the state’s revenues are down, few employments were made but yet salaries are not paid and adversity rate remains well above the national average. It seems that El-Rufai’s mission is a mission impossible.
