It’s interesting what’s happening in Kaduna State, that Governor El-Rufai wants to unite the city divided along religious lines, with Christians in the north and Muslims in the south of Kaduna by curbing religious activities. In an interview last week, he said he wasn’t going to back down, no matter what. That’s certainly not the behaviour of a democrat, but of one who must win an argument. Religion is a sensitive matter in Kaduna State and Christians are urged in the Bible to preach the good news to all nations. Yes, both Muslims and Christians use loudspeakers, sometimes in the wee hours of the morning. Still, the governor needs to be a democrat.
