In fact, virtually all the commissioners under the Martin Elechi administration left the PDP to the LP in protest against the treatment meted out on them and their principal and are currently making frantic efforts to see that the LP governorship candidate Dr. Edward Nkwegu wins the polls. What appears surprising is the fact that Elechi himself is still in the PDP but allowed his aides to move to the LP in large numbers.
Officials of the state government who addressed newsmen in Abuja said the governor is with President Goodluck Jonathan 100 percent, but they did not say if the man would support the PDP governorship candidate in the state.
“Our governor and his supporters all over the state have resolved to support the candidature of President Jonathan and vote for him as a tested and trusted leader notwithstanding the defection of the people to Labour Party,” they said.
As a matter of fact, the Ebonyi officials believe that LP will win the elections with a landslide in the state and said that they want to “teach the PDP a lesson for insulting their governor and imposing a candidate on the people and no amount of intimidation, using the Police, EFCC, DSS, Civil Defence and all can stop the people.
With this development, Nigerians will be wondering where the mind of Elechi lies.
