Ahead of the forthcoming 2024 governorship election in Edo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki has charged Edo people to elect a governor who is ready to sacrifice for the common good of the state and its people.
Obaseki said on Monday in Benin in his New Year broadcast to the people of the state that “2024 is another election year in the state; we must be deliberate in making our choices during the polls in support of the progress we have so far recorded.
“We should seek for a governor who is ready to sacrifice for the common good of Edo and Nigeria, and persons who have the skills, knowledge and experience to formulate and implement good policies that will move Edo forward.”
Obaseki called all residents in the state, particularly the political actors, to ensure that they go about their activities in a peaceful and cordial manner.
“The presidential elections tested the foundations of our democracy, while the very difficult and precarious economic situation tested our resilience as a people,” he said.
According to him, “despite these challenges, which we have had to endure, we are glad that Edo State continues to make progress in our journey towards a better society.”
