Election: Adamawa achieves 85% PVC distribution-REC

The Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Baba Abba Yusuf said the commission has so far achieved 85% distribution level in the state.
He described the development as great achievement for INEC, considering the fact that there was only 42% voter turn out in the state in 2011 elections.
Abba Yusuf attributed the success to effective monitoring of field officers and aggressive enlightenment campaign by the commission.
“We monitor our workers in all the centres and embark on sensitisation campaign including radio jingles and other means of reaching out to the voters”, he said.
Many residents interviewed by our correspondents in Yola said they have collected their PVCS weeks before February 14, the date earlier slated for presidential election before it was postponed to March 14.
A displaced person from Madagali area, Ibrahim Adamu said himself, his two wives and four other relatives have collected their voter cards since January, adding that they were not happy with the postponement of the elections.
