Elections: JIBWIS tasks Muslims on voting

The chairman council of Ulama of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’Ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, has called on Nigerians to participate in the upcoming general elections.

The group also asked Muslims across the country to actively and righteously join the politics of the country.

Sheikh Jingir, made the call at the opening of the JIBWIS 30th National Annual Seminar with the theme: “Electing righteous people of integrity is the basis of a successful society,” held at its Science Secondary School Zaria Road, Jos.

The guest speaker at the event, Senator Lawal Yahaya Gumau, said some politicians were betrayers and liars.

“As politicians, we are only rancour promoters. Betrayals and breach of trust are our characters,” he said.

Sen. Gumau said on the other hand, politicians can genuinely pursue politics the way religious leaders are pursuing the cause of Allah, by doing things selflessly.
