Six Nigerian DJs/electronic music producers participated in the 5-day workshop with the theme: ‘Electronic Soundscapes,’ designed to expand the artistic range of Nigeria’s already booming music scene.
It was facilitated by three internationally-renowned producers, Afrologic (Nigeria), DJ R-Ash (France) and Marko Fürstenberg (Germany).
The organisers have slated another event for June 20 in Abuja to commemorate World Music Day.
Cultural Programme Officer of the Institut francais, Alice O’Reilly, said in a statement that the annual World Music Day celebration at the French Institute in Abuja has been a sight to behold over the years as music lovers converge to mark the event with funfair.
“The idea of the World Music Day was born in France, where the first all-night music celebration to mark the beginning of the summer solstice took place in 1982 in Paris. The festival has since become an international phenomenon, celebrated on the same day in more than 460 cities in 110 countries,” she said.
