He said the 20 clubs in the NPFL are unflinchingly behind the new helmsman at the NSC and are ready to give him all the support he needs to succeed in his present national assignment.
Danladi noted that even before he served as the deputy chairman of the House of Representatives committee on sports, Elegbeleye was a member of the management committee of Rising Stars of Akure.
He said during his membership of the committee on sports, the new DG displayed in-depth knowledge of the sporting terrain as he was one of those who made useful contributions in driving the important sector forward.
The chairman of Nasarawa United FC, therefore called on all well meaning Nigerians to throw their weight behind the NSC Director-General to enable him actualise his vision for Nigerian sports.
“On behalf of the 20 clubs in the NPFL, I want to congratulate our friend and brother, Gbenga Elegbeleye on his recent appointment as the Director General of the National Sports Commission.
“This is a well deserved appointment and it did not come to us as a surprise because he has paid his dues. He is a member of the family and he will enjoy the support of all the relevant stakeholders.
“For those who don’t know his profile, he was a member of the management committee of Rising Stars of Akure before he became the deputy chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on sports.
“I can tell you confidently, Elegeleye is ably qualified to hold that position and if given the necessary support, he will surely lead Nigerian sports out of the doldrums”, he said.
