Channeldrill, a Nigerian based infrastructure and city developer and other engineering consultants have embarked on the Imperial International Business City (IIBC) project. It is being promoted by the Elegushi Royal Family in Lagos, designed to redefine the standard of urban development in Africa.

The proposed city which is located in Lekki, Lagos, involves 200 hectares reclamation, while also aiming at attracting the best companies from across the globe to invest.

The aim of the project (IIBC) is to create a model for self sustainable smart business Eco-city Scale development in Africa as intended by  Oba Elegushi and anticipated to become a popular tourist attraction in a few years to come.

Speaking at the ground breaking of Imperial International Business city in Lagos on Saturday, Managing Director of Channeldrill Resources Limited, Femi Akioye, said: “they (family) don’t want Nigerians coming from abroad to feel like coming from heaven to a middle way between hell and earth; we want people to be able to see what they are seeing abroad in Nigeria.”

Akioye added: “We have actually started work because pipes are being laid across the land where the city would be. Also under water pipes that are going to be 3.5km – 5km into the lagoon are being laid for the dredging exercise.
