Top on the list of companies that went home with the Elizade award is the United Bank for Africa (UBA). The financial institution went home with a brand new Toyota Avensis car.
Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman of the company, Sir Michael Ade-Ojo stated that the award is the company’s way of saying thank you to those who have stayed solidly behind the organization through out its trying times.
“For me, the 40+1 Anniversary celebrations, is a mixed feeling as it afforded me the opportunity to look back. How I wish my first late wife, Mrs Elizabeth Adeojo, is around. We started this company with just two persons but now it has grown with over 1000 staff. It also offers the company a chance to appreciate customer loyalty re-focus and look ahead to a greater tomorrow.” he added.
He added that, “Exactly forty one years after my late wife, Elizabeth and I founded Elizade, the company looks strong, viable and very alive, even when it was obvious that most businesses were closing down and relocating out of the country.”
He stated that it is not just as a result of the company’s acclaimed good works or the company’s excellent offerings, it goes beyond the entrepreneurial competence of its founder but its all about grace
“One could count at the tips of one’s fingers Nigerian companies that have survived for over two decades, not to talk of four. Really, in this tough business terrain with its peculiar instability and uncertainties, the chances of a business surviving beyond a decade is as slim as finding a penguin in the tropics” he added.
Earlier, the company’s Managing Director, Mr Ademola Ade-Ojo explained that the Anniversary is all about the Elizade customers and loyalists.
He said part of the criteria used to shortlist the awardees was that the company went into its records of its loyal customers for a period of six years.
“The highest volume buyer over the past six years, being the last time the company celebrated it’s anniversary, would also go home with a brand new Toyota Avensis. This makes a total of four brand new Toyota Avensis cars, in addition to several goodies, the premier auto-dealer would be giving out during the period” he added.
Elizade Nigeria Limited started business as an automobile marketing company in 1971. Over the years, the company has consistently been marketing, selling and servicing Toyota vehicles in Nigeria. Today, it is ranked number one Toyota dealer in Nigeria and is the only surviving auto dealer from amongst her contemporaries.
