The Ember months are here again and as usual, there will be a lot of movements across the country. While many people will like to hold on to some superstitious beliefs on the cause of accidents on the roads during this period, I will like to state very clearly that motorists are responsible for the problems on the roads.
They obey traffic rules and observe speed limit as well. Also, most of the roads in the country are in terrible condition, I call on the federal and state governments to rehabilitate the roads. Many of the roads are death traps and that should not be the case. Special emphasis should be placed on roads that experience a lot of traffic during this period.
I commend the Road Safety personnel for the good job they are doing and urge them to double their efforts this period. It is important for Road Safety personnel to be on all major roads across the country. Motorists should also cooperate with the personnel to ensure safety of lives.
