The Etsu Nupe, Dr. Yahaya Abubakar has called on Nigeria youths to support the federal government in its efforts to diversify the country’s economy by embracing agriculture.
The royal father also urged governments at all levels and stakeholders in agric business to create the enabling environment that would attract youths into agriculture.
The Etsu Nupe, who is also the grand patron of the Arewa Young Farmers Initiative (AYFI) said the nation’s quest for alternative revenue sources following the fall in prices of crude oil, should be anchored on agriculture with youths as centre piece of the initiative.
Speaking shortly after the conferment of the grand patron on him by the AYFI in Bida, Niger State, the Etsu Nupe urged Northern leaders to evolve as a matter of urgency, agriculture-drive policy that would take youths of the region from the street.
