The Emir of Kazaure, Dr Najib Hussaini Adamu, through the Emirate Zakkat Committee, has distributed zakkat in cash and grains worth over N60million to over 10,000 needy subjects.
This was contained in a press statement at the end of the distribution exercise signed by the chairman of the Zakkat Committee, Alhaji Bala Muhammad.
Muhammad explained that the distribution was done at the 10 District area of the emirate after enumerating the list of beneficiaries.
He noted that the beneficiaries included destitute households, widows, orphans, mentally retardate people, physically challenged and other vulnerable groups in the society.

“Also among the beneficiaries are those who need a token amount of money to start or go back to their petty businesses, which have been their sources of livelihood over the years, and those who can’t afford to settle their medical bills,” he said.
He maintained that the zakkat was collected from farmers and wealthy people in the emirate and distributed in according to the laid down rules in the holy Quran.
“We are also calling on other well-to-do people to channel their zakkat through this committee, which has structure, down to the grassroots so that it would be given to the appropriate people in an organised manner,” he said.
