The Emir of Zazzau, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, has commemorated his fourth year on the throne with a prayer session dedicated to the peace and unity of the nation.

The occasion also included the commissioning of the New Emir’s Guest Chalet, named in honour of the late Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Dr Shehu Idris, during which prayers were offered for the well-being of the state and the country.

The celebration featured a visit to the tomb of the late Malam Musa, the first Fulani emir and flag bearer of Shehu Usman Dan Fodio, where the emir offered prayers for his soul.

Also, family-organised prayers were held at the emir’s residence in Kwarbai Quarters, and a separate session took place at the refurbished Malam Abdulkarim Chamber in the emir’s palace, officiated by leading clerics from the major Islamic traditions in the emirate.

In his remarks, the emir emphasised that the anniversary was marked modestly, given the socio-economic challenges facing the nation.

Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli ascended the throne on October 7, 2020, following the passing of the late emir, Dr Shehu Idris, who died on September 20, 2020, after a brief illness.

Before his appointment as emir, Bamalli served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Thailand with concurrent accreditation to Myanmar.

Leading the prayer session, the Chief Imam of Zazzau, Mallam Kasim Dalhat, prayed for the nation’s peace, unity and stability and an end to the ongoing security challenges.

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State congratulated the emir on his four-year milestone, affirming the government’s commitment to strengthening traditional institutions as custodians of the state’s cultural and religious heritage.

Represented by Dr Mahmud Lawal, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Local Government, the governor pledged to implement the newly-legislated minimum wage across the state, including for emirate staff, to enhance their performance.

Governor Sani further announced that the upcoming state budget would allocate significant resources for traditional institutions, toward addressing many of their long-standing concerns.
