‘Empower nomadic youths to boost dev’t’

The Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Nomadic Education (NCNE), Prof. Bashir Usman, has harped on the development of nomadic youths to help them influence their communities positively.

Usman made the appeal yesterday in Abuja while declaring open a four-day writers’ workshop on the development of training manuals on skills acquisition and sustainable livelihoods for nomadic youths.

According to him, the skills in the manuals would provide the intended trainees with problem-solving skills.

“Empowering the nomadic youths is the means through which they are assisted to succeed in life and have the opportunity to develop the ability they need to become role models who can influence their communities and earn a living for socio-economic and sustainable livelihood development.

“The various skills provided in these all-important training manuals to be developed will provide the intended trainees with artistic, manipulative, life coping, lifelong communicative empowerment skills, intellectual empowerment skills as well as problem-solving skills,” he said.

The director, Department of Extension Education and Skills Development, NCNE, Dr Abdu Umar Ardo, said the workshop was organised to have a standard document designed by experts, professionals, academicians, consultants, technicians and practitioners in various fields for the training of nomadic youths.
